On May 14, 2023, the spoiler film Youth in the Shades was released to announce Zerobaseone’s official debut.
Before its debut, Zerobaseone released the Back to Zerobase film on June 15, followed by its reaction and behind-the-scenes video on June 24 and 25, respectively. Through the SNS accounts of the group, the complete timetable for its mini-album was announced on June 20, and pre-orders became available on June 21. Youth in the Shade pre-orders had crossed 1.08 million sales within two weeks, as reported by Genie Music on July 4. This is the highest pre-order sales for a K-pop debut album in history. It was released in two artbooks and nine digipack versions (concerning each member’s version).
On the album’s release day, the group held its first press showcase, also called the debut showcase, and performed live on the lead track “In Bloom” and the b-side track “New Kidz on the Block.” After one week of debuts, Zerobaseone members got their first live show on The Show, broadcast on channel SBS M’s.
