The company behind popular K-pop boy bands SF9 and P1Harmony, FNC Entertainment, launched a new Septet K-pop band, AMPERS&ONE, intending to lead the next generation of K-pop. You might not be able to pronounce this band name properly, but that’s okay because it is one of the K-pop bands that comes with different names and meanings. AMPERS&ONE officially debuted on November 15, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. KST with its first single album, “Ampersand One,” having a track length of 9 minutes and 42 seconds. The single album “Ampersand One” has three songs in its tracklist, which are as follows: “On and On,” “Sweet & Sour,” and “Sheesh,” all released on the group’s debut day. On and On serves as the lead title track in this single album, which was written by Han Seong Ho, Sooyoon, Lee Seung Hyub (J. Don), and Kamden, composed by Han Seong Ho, Park Soo Suk, Lee Tae Hyun, Benjmn, and Jacob Aaron (THE HUB), while arranged by Park Soo Suk and Lee Tae Hyun. On October 25, 2023, FNC announced the official debut date and album of AMPERS&ONE through the group’s SNS accounts.
All the members were introduced to the public through a series of YouTube shorts released on the group’s YouTube channel between October 19 and 24, in the order of Jiho, Mackiah, Siyun, Brian, Kyrell, Seungmo, and Kamden. However, their visual identity was revealed through concept photos. The audience was already familiar with the faces of Na Kamden, Brian, and Choi Jiho as they were contestants of the Mnet reality show Boys Planet, while Siyun appeared in YG Entertainment’s reality show YG Treasure Box.
AMPERS&ONE held its debut showcase on the group’s debut day, 8 p.m. KST, at Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Seoul, South Korea. The next day, the group performed On and On at the Mnet Countdown for the first time. In terms of sales, Ampersand One sold 56,609 copies in Korea and reached eleventh place in the weekly Circle Album Charts soon after its release.
