With the announcement of the new generation of SM Entertainment, SM 3.0, the rumors regarding the new boy band started spreading among K-pop enthusiasts, and finally, it was confirmed that the company would launch its seven-member boy band called RIIZE in mid-2023. RIIZE Debut Album, Pre-release, and Debut Showcase
RIIZE debuted officially on September 4, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. KST with the release of the single album “Get a Guitar,” which has a track length of 5 minutes and 38 seconds. Get a Guitar has two tracks in its tracklist, which are as follows: “Get a Guitar” (the lead track) and “Memories.” The lead single Get a Guitar, released on the group’s debut day, was written by Sin Na-ri (Artiffect) and Bang Hye-hyun (JamFactory), composed by Peter Wallevik (PhD), Daniel Davidsen (PhD), Ben Samama, and David Arkwright, and arranged by PhD. It was on July 31, 2023, when SM Entertainment itself revealed its upcoming group name and logo poster.
For promotional pre-debut activities, RIIZE members attended the annual convention KCON 2023 in Los Angeles on August 20, 2023. In the KCON 2023, the group performed their pre-release track “Memories” and the introduction performance “Siren,” which they again performed on August 27 at the music program Inkigayo, aired on SBS, in the same manner. The single album Get a Guitar’s second track, “Memories,” was released prior to the group’s debut on August 21, 2023. All seven members of the group were introduced on August 1 through the group’s Instagram.
Also, the group held its debut showcase on its debut day at 7 p.m. KST, titled “RIIZING DAY: RIIZE Premiere,” and at 8 p.m. KST, the group held its fan meetup at Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where they announced the group’s fan club name, SUNZ, later changed to BRIIZE. For the first time on September 7, 2023, RIIZE broadcast their debut on the television program M Countdown, aired on Mnet, where they performed “Get a Guitar,” “Memories,” and “Siren.”
Get a Guitar Commercial Performance
Talking about the commercial performance, RIIZE’s debut album recorded a pre-order of 1.03 million copies and set a new record in SM Entertainment for the highest pre-order sales for any debut album in their company. Thus, Get a Guitar grabbed a million status before its actual release date. Soon after the release, the RIIZE debut single album peaked at the first position on the Circle Album Charts in the weekly and monthly charts of September 2023, as well as peaked at the second position on the Oricon Japanese weekly album charts.
