After the success of Twice, JYP Entertainment again came up with another girl band, but this time with fewer girls and more promotion than the previous time. The quintet band ITZY, managed by JYP Entertainment, is one of the best K-pop bands that came from the fourth generation of K-pop. Today we will discuss ITZY’s debut date, time, and album with all its members, Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna, including their debut album tracklist, members’ introduction, debut showcase, first show win, and sales performance.
ITZY Debut Album, Tracklist, and Members Introduction
ITZY officially debuted on February 19, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. KST with the release of a digital single album, “It’s Different,” which has a track length of 6 minutes and 39 seconds. It’s Different has two songs on its tracklist, which are as follows: “Dalla Dalla” (the lead track) and “Want It?.” The lead single Dalla Dalla was written, composed, and arranged by AthenA and Galactika, a music production team of Friday and Chang. The second track, Want It, was written by Lee Seu-ran and Tommy Park and composed by Emile Ghantous, Keith Hetrick, Allison Gillis, Aimee Proal, Whitney Phillips, and Erin Beck. Also, the track was arranged by Emile Ghantous and Keith Hetrick. It was on January 21, 2019, when JYP Entertainment announced the debut of a new girl band at the beginning of 2019.
All the former members of the ITZY band were revealed through concept images between January 26 and February 1, 2019, in the order of Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. Later, a teaser video of Dalla Dalla and other concept images was dropped by the group until it debuted on February 12, 2019. On the group’s debut day at 8:00 p.m. KST, ITZY held its debut showcase, where they performed their lead single Dalla Dalla, broadcast live on Naver V Live.
Promotional Activities and Commercial Performance
On February 15, 2019, ITZY also performed Dalla Dalla on Music Bank, which aired on KBS2. Later on February 21, the group got its first show win on M Countdown, which aired on Mnet, and performed Dalla Dalla. This made ITZY the fastest girl band to win its first show in K-pop at that time. Other music programs include Show Champion, aired on MBC M; Show! Music Core, aired on MBC; Inkigayo, aired on SBS; and some other South Korean music programs where they performed, which enabled ITZY to win nine shows for their debut single. In terms of commercial success, It’s Different peaked at second place on the Gaon Charts (now called Circle Charts), second place on US Billboard Digital Songs Sales, and thirty-first position on the Billboard Japan Hot 100.
